Ontario Trillium Line Extension – Stage 2

This project was part of the construction of the Trillium Line, also known as the O-Train Line 2. This eight-kilometer LRT runs from Greenboro Station in the south to just west of downtown at Bayview Station. Metric’s role on this project was a subcontractor and JV Partner on a specific scope with the Prime Contractor, SNC Lavalin. The scope of work involved the enabling works for the future track expansion by others.

Specific construction activities carried out by Metric include:

  • Earthworks and Grading including stripping (180,210 m3), cut-to-fill (159,620 m3), importing fill (150,820 m3), and hauling out excess material (34,860 m3)
  • Fine grading (564,355 m2) in preparation for stone placement
  • Placement of topsoil in landscaped areas (131,078 m3)
  • Supply and Placement of Granular A (40,520 m3) and Granular B (151,355 m3) for roads, pathways, and parking lots
  • Preparation for Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Walls including subgrade preparation, excavation, footings, and backfill (5,924 l.m)
  • Installation of 8740 l.m. of PVC pipe (150mm dia to 375mm dia) and 2040 l.m. of RCP (450m dia to 1500mm dia)
  • Supply and installation of 68 maintenance structures, 94 catchbasins, and 2 Oil Separators
  • Installation of 81 precast headwalls ranging from 300mm dia to 1800mm dia.
  • Installation of 149 l.m. of box culverts ranging from 1200×900 to 1800×1200
  • Tributary Realignment (200 l.m.)
