East Don Trail Project: phase 1 updates

With bridges installed and much of the grading and paving complete, phase 1 of the East Don Trail project is nearing completion!

Metric is proud to be working with Toronto Region and Conservation Authority (TRCA) to help expand Toronto’s public transportation infrastructure. The highly-anticipated opening of this 3.1 km multi-use trail will connect the Lower Don Trail to the future Gatineau Corridor Trail at Bermondsey Road.

Highway 407 East Extension

Location: Brock Road to Highway 35/115 and two north-south links connecting Highway 401.
Date: October 2013

Project Highlights:

Highway 407 East will be built in two phases. Phase 1 includes the mainline from Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa and the West Durham Link in Whitby. Phase 2 includes the mainline from Harmony Road in Oshawa to 35/115 in Clarington and the East Durham Link in Clarington.

Earth excavation, moving, grading and drainage works includes stripping, cut to fill, and haul short and long distance, placing top soil from the site, seeding, mulching and erosion control.

Bolsover Dam Lock 37

Project Highlights:

Reconstruction of a concrete dam includes demolition of existing dam, excavation for water diversion system, upstream sheet pile cofferdam with H=18m, fish rescue and removals, erosion controls and slope protection works, steel and timber works, mechanical works and operating systems, road, parking and landscape works, construction monitoring and controlling systems.
