Congratulations Andrew Harding, Enrico Calo, and the rest of the crew at the Eglinton Crosstown project at Yonge and Eglinton!

Collectively the crew at this site was awarded the project safety recognition award in December 2020 for their commitment to health and safety, especially in regards to documentation.

Highway 407 East Extension

Client: 407 East Construction General Partnership
Location: Brock Road to Highway 35/115 and two north-south links connecting Highway 401.

Project Highlights:

Highway 407 East will be built in two phases. Phase 1 includes the mainline from Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa and the West Durham Link in Whitby. Phase 2 includes the mainline from Harmony Road in Oshawa to 35/115 in Clarington and the East Durham Link in Clarington.

Earth excavation, moving, grading and drainage works includes stripping, cut to fill, and haul short and long distance, placing top soil from the site, seeding, mulching and erosion control.

Bolsover Dam Lock 37

Project Highlights:

Reconstruction of a concrete dam includes demolition of existing dam, excavation for water diversion system, upstream sheet pile cofferdam with H=18m, fish rescue and removals, erosion controls and slope protection works, steel and timber works, mechanical works and operating systems, road, parking and landscape works, construction monitoring and controlling systems.

Bombardier Aerospace

Project Highlights:

Excavation and grading including storm water management pond, foundation & pit excavation, cast in place concrete underground water storage tank with volume 600mm dia. HDPE DR17 storm force main including trench less installation, 150mm dia.HDPE DR17 sanitary force main including pumping station, asphalt paving of roads and parking areas including granular, various diameter concrete storm sewer including structures.

The King Road Shuffle

Client: City of Burlington/Canadian National Railways
Location: King road
Date: October 5-8, 2012 Thanksgiving

Project Highlights:

Suspending trail traffic for an 84 hour period in order to install a pre-constructed 3 track bridge structure. 8400 m3 of excavation was completed within a 24 hour scheduled period. A crew of 45 personnel and 30 pieces of equipment supported and supplemented CN forces over the balance of the duration of the 84 hour period. The 2500 te structure was jacked into place and ancillary works completed within the 84 hour scheduled window, allowing rail traffic to open as scheduled.

Remove the rail track, excavate approximately 8,000 cubic metres (10,464 cubic yards), and build the concrete pads for the underpass bridge to slide into place as well as back-fill.

Start time was 11:59 Friday night, and it all had to be finished by 11:59 Monday night in order to handle the first roar of the early trains. The result was a very intensive 72 hours.

Halton Regional Hospital

Project Highlights:

Excavation/Grading includes foundation and pit excavation on shale and clay, Cut, fill & compact for site grading sub-grade preparation, back-fill structures with clay, back-fill structure with sand /granular “B”, supply and place 19mm clear limestone under slab on grade, spread topsoil to landscaped areas.
